Watchlist for 12/30/09
Covered my CATM short position today at 2.20, 2.29, and 2.30, from an average entry of 2.42. Still holding HSCO short. CGEN was an OK short from yesterday’s watchlist. I shorted at 4.98 on the break of 5 support, and covered at 4.79. ATHX finally had a big down day today, but alas, there were no borrows anywhere. Would’ve been a great short when it fell below $5. Short List: MILL is the only thing on my short watchlist. It’s looking over-extended. But, it’s OTCBB so it will be tough to find borrows. Breakout List: BSPM had a nice breakout ...Continue Reading...Watchlist for 12/29
Short: HSCO ATHX IFNY CGENLong: CIIC MILL VRMLQ Currently short HSCO and CAMT overnight. Interactive Brokers had borrows for HSCO in the first 30 minutes of trading, then the borrows were gone. I would’ve loved to have covered my CAMT short position in the low 2′s but it was in my Cy Group account and I was at work and I can’t access my Cy account from work (I had entered the short position before I went to work, and then set a stop). So I was forced to hold and watch my profits erode away. Hopefully it will drop ...Continue Reading...Watchlist for 12/28
Here’s the short watchlist for tomorrow: AAC….pretty illiquid and tough to find borrows ATHX….stubborn, if it doesn’t finally get a nice down day I’m taking it off the watchlist CAMT….illiquid…I’ll still play it if I can find borrows, but just with a smaller position size then normal HSCO…a pink sheeter that’s been pumped up…..good luck finding borrows KFS….a double from lows, horrendous long-term chart NVLT continues to keep going ...Continue Reading...
Watchlist for Thursday 12/24
Yesterday’s watchlist worked out pretty well. I nailed the AHD short, shorting the 6.90′s and covering in the low 6′s. My only other trades were a small loss in longing ATHX near the open, and then a break-even short of AHTX a bit later. I missed a lot of the other good opportunities. Tomorrow’s watchlist (remember it’s a short trading day): Short: AAC ATHX CIICLong: EONC CRIS ...Continue Reading...

Some of the plays off yesterday’s watchlist turned out good, although I wasn’t able to play some of them, and flat out missed a few others. I sold my EXAS position at 3.16 when it couldn’t hold green. Here’s the watchlist for tomorrow. SHORT: AMFI big 2-day spike, near resistance: ATHX gapped way up on a deal with Pfizer. Big red candle above the upper bollinger band. However, could also be a good long on red to green action if it holds these price levels. QELP right at resistance LONG: CRIS near a breakout LLFH breaking out NVLT with a ...Continue Reading...Watchlist for 12/21/2009
Sold my PIR position on Friday at 5.44 for a tiny 2.4% gain. I was too impatient with it; should’ve held longer as it based nicely in the 5.40′s and then went into the 5.60′s. Currently long EXAS from Friday afternoon at 3.11 (more below). Here’s the watchlist for Monday: SHORTS: OPTZ was from Friday’s watchlist. Potential further downside from here if you can find borrows (and they’re tough to come by). MILL was from Friday’s watchlist. It would’ve been a good short on Friday but borrows were gone fast. Further downside from here if you can find borrows. ITKG ...Continue Reading...Anatomy of Playing a Breakout, and 12/18 Watchlist

SNSS was a nice short off yesterday’s list….I shorted at 2.10 and covered half at 1.83. I held the rest into the afternoon but when it didn’t stay below 2, I covered the rest at 2.01. For Tuesday: Short: SNSS MEDG JBII LUNA JYHW Long: AEN ZSTN TSTC MGPI AMFI Remember that stuff on the short list can often make for a good long on red-to-green action. ...Continue Reading...
