Losing Streaks….Some Statistics
On Friday I had 6 losing trades in a row. This post is to show how losing streaks like this are perfectly normal. What I like about using TradePerformance Lite is that it tells me my longest winning and losing streaks for each strategy I use. Despite trading my usual strategies, I had 6 losing trades on Friday. CHCI was a low float preleader that spiked briefly but failed to follow through with a good move. Then I played the VHC breakout and that failed as well. I played the MPET breakout and that failed to hold $2. Then I played the MCGC breakout but I chased it a bit….had a stop just under $5.14 support and got stopped out. Trade Recap for 2/25/2010
Completely screwed up today big-time…..a couple big lessons learned First came my overnight position in NVLT…..I figured I would sell if it dropped below 30 cents….well it did but I couldn’t get out despite putting in a market order…..and I ended up getting out at 26 cents. Two big lessons here. First, I should’ve never entered…..I should’ve waited yesterday until I saw it break the HOD (which it never did). That way I would’ve known that buyers were in control. Made about a 6% gain off of shorting TXCC from yesterday’s watchlist. Even though I was short from 2.68, I had to take 200 shares off the table at 2.74 because I got a warning from IB that I had gone negative on my excess liquidity, and I didn’t want to risk being forced to cover. Also went long NVLT in the afternoon which I’m currently holding. Small loss on the failed SFN breakout from yesterday’s watchlist.
